A Poem by James R. Lawrence

HUE

On a moments notice, I can see

A revelation in your eyes,

An instrument which tells the truth,

A device which I can always trust,

            Believe in,

One that is free from lies.

In the morning hours, I sit awake,

Dreaming of your eyes to see,

Hoping to catch a glimpse of them,

            To read them,

To see what they think of me.

The gentle beauty that they hold

Tells me what I want to hear,

Describes the measure of your love,

            They enunciate,

They explain I've nothing to fear.

Thus, the priceless value of your eyes.

In a blink of an eye, being able to see a revealing in the eyes. Honesty prevailing in the glance. To be able to look in the honest eyes, you can see what you really are. You need to be reassured because you trust this person. These eyes take away the scary feeling inside of you. There is nothing in the world that can compare to this honesty. I was able to understand this poem and study it a little. Keep up the good work!

To look in a person's eyes...is to look into their soul.
Beautifully written.
