Strange (Italian Sonnet)

Strange (Italian Sonnet)

A Poem by James R. Lawrence

STRANGE (Italian Sonnet)

(April 23, 2000, Easter and Shakespeare’s B-day)

My lips quiver with anticipation.

My heart sinks, and my eyes can’t look away,

My legs shake as I wonder what to say,

And feel the rush of exhilaration;

At ease, we laugh and talk, so near we stand,

Her eyes glow, her cheeks blush with every grin,

My fingers reach to sense her gentle skin,

And feel love, passion flowing through her hand;

            So right we feel, so strange it is, you see,

            Because she seems to care as much for me.
