Awestruck

Awestruck

A Poem by James R. Lawrence

The Timid moon crept over building tops;
Its brilliant hue caught my eye,
Lifting my head up to see it glow,
I thought of how its beauty would last forever,
And how it would never cease to make me Awestruck,
The wonder of creation and Heaven's mysteries
Danced through my quivering mind,
Memories of other nights, the same moon, different hues,
And always beauty immeasurable;
Still rising, its fiery tint helped me smile
For always it reminded me of how lucky I was
To have it a part of my life;
And always it reminded me of you,
For like this timid moon, you crept into my heart,
Always growing, always beautiful,
Always catching my eye by just being yourself
Lucky, I certainly am, and awestruck I'll always be.
