A Chapter by Rae Rae

“Why are people staring at us?” I asked hoping to get an answer from him.

“I don’t know, don’t worry about them.” He said and gave my hand a squeeze. As we got on line for the go carts a few of the girls who were on the line behinds us were saying comments about me.

“Look at her, don’t tell me she’s with him.” One had said. I tried to block them out.

“I know she totally doesn’t fit him, maybe she’s his sister.” Said another. I tried even harder to block out their little gossiping.  I felt as my face heated up in embarrassment.

“Well either way she doesn’t look good with him, we should get his number.” The first one said.

I felt as I slowly let go of Michaels' hand. I knew I’m not the best looking girl in the world, I’m no Megan Fox, I know that, this was too good to be true anyway. It was bound to end sometime. I took a few steps away from him and just felt as he looked at me.

“What’s wrong?” He asked. I didn’t look up at him. He took my hand again and lifted my face up by my chin.” Don’t listen to them. They don’t know what they are talking about.” He said and I looked down.

“No, they’re right. I’m not pretty, and I’m not good enough for you.” I said and he snorted. I glared at him. He kissed my forehead.

“Don’t glare; it’ll give you wrinkles in no time.” He said, I gasped in shock.

“Don’t worry, you’re beautiful. No matter what you think.” He said and I felt as my cheeks heated up and formed a blush. He pulled me back into his side and I pouted.

“Stop teasing me.”

“I’m not teasing you, and I don’t lie.” He said, knowing I was going to tell him not to lie to me.

I smiled just a slight bit and I turned around to flip them off, but didn’t. Their eyes went wide, and they left the line not waiting to go a round in the go carts.

“That was weird, they just left.” I said.

“Maybe, they noticed how beautiful you are and realized they made a mistake.” Michael said. Yeah right, whatever. I’m just happy you think I’m beautiful.

That was the first time I heard a guy say that to me, in years.

“Thanks.” We finally started driving in the go carts and it was awesome. Someone ended crashing because an idiot decided that he was in a bumper car arena. The girl is fine though.

We left the race track and my stomach growled. Im hungry already? Then again we did move around, and laughed a lot.

"I'm hungry let's go eat." I said and Michael agreed. We went to the small food-court that they had and I grabbed a cheese burger and a cola. Michael grabbed a soda and a hotdog.

"I'm having so much fun. Thank you for taking me here." I said taking a bite of my burger.

"No problem I figured you'd like it." He said. I smiled and he gave me an equally sexy smile.

I continued eating and I heard a crack of thunder. I looked up at the sky and saw a few black thunder clouds forming above the fair.

"It's about to rain." I said a little sad. I finished and drank the last of my soda and stood up.

"Lets get on one more ride before we leave." I said. Michael looked up at the sky and another crack of thunder filled the air.

"I don't know it might not be safe." he said. I pouted and he sighed." Fine, I'm just a little worried that it won't be safe if we get on a ride."

I knew it might not be the safest thing but I wanted to get on the Ferris wheel.

"Please." I pleaded. He sighed rolling his eyes and started walking.

"What do you want to go on?" he asked.

"The Ferris wheel." I said with happiness. We walked to the Ferris wheel, and the thunder grew closer in the separation of crackling.

We walked to the line and we got on, not waiting even a minute.

"Watch your step Miss." said the operator after he caught me from falling. I looked at him and smiled.

"Thank you."

He blushed and helped me in. I sat down across from Michael and smiled.

"Happy?" He asked. I nodded a smile forming on my face.

"Yeah more than happy." I said. We waited for the other people to come on before they started the fifteen minute turning cycle.

I looked at Michael and I saw a small black mark sticking out from under his shirt on his chest.

"What's that? Do you have a tattoo?" I asked. He looked down and moved his shirt to the side to show it.

"Yeah. It’s a cross." he said. I moved over there and looked at it closely. It was a cross with many detailed swirls and a pair of small wings on the sides.

"Wow it’s so pretty." I said." Do you believe in god?" I asked.

"Yes, no matter what. Do you believe in him?" Michael said as if he knew the guy as if he was his after school buddy.

"Well to tell you the truth I don't know what to believe, nothing in my life has given me any reason to." I said and under my breath I added," Besides you coming to me the other night."

"Well if you wait, something good is bound to happen." he said a smile forming on his perfect lips. Well I'm not going knock that now am I. He came to me.

"I guess." I said and the Ferris wheel started moving and it also started raining.

I looked out the window and watch the wet scenery. Even with it raining it looked beautiful, maybe even mysterious.

Michael leaned over to look out also. I looked up at him. I looked at his cheek tempted to kiss it. As I leaned in to kiss him the Ferris wheel came to an abrupt stop making me fly into him.

We fell onto the floor and rubbed my head, I had hit my head against his.

"Are you okay?" he asked me. I nodded and our carrier started shaking violently. I screamed and held Michael tightly. The thundering outside became more violent and I grew even more afraid.

"What's going on?" I screamed.

"It's okay just hold on to me." he said I nodded and held on to him as if the world was ending. Right now that's what it felt like.

The carrier shook again, I screamed again. God please don't let me die now. I just found a guy who is interested in me and not my sister, for once in my life. Please don't let it all end here.

"Ugh, crap my back burns." I looked up at Michael and his face contorted with pain. I quickly kneeled in front of him.

"Are you alright?" I asked concern written all over my voice. He looked at me his eyes glowing again.

"I'm fine." he said. I gave him a skeptical look. He smiled, and the Ferris wheel started moving again. I grabbed him again, I was a little jumpy after what just happened.

When we got off the ride I literally clung on to Michael.

I was sliding off of him because it was still raining.

"You know you can let go now." he said. I shook my head no.

"I'm still scared." I said. Michael laughed.

"You're fine. I won't let anything hurt you." he said. I smiled believing him. As we walked, yes it is still raining. I didn't care though. Many people were running to get under something. I turned to my left and I saw that guy who attacked me yesterday night. He was in a black button up shirt and jeans. He smiled, and started walking away.

Weird.

We walked back to my house. I looked at my sisters' place as we past it and my phone vibrated but I wasn't going to answer while I was in the rain.

We made it to my place in one piece. I unlocked my door and I stood in the opening.

"Thanks again I had a good time." I said. He smiled.

"I'm glad you did. I hope we can go out again soon." he said. I smiled.

"Definitely." I said.

I looked down and decided to do what I planned in the Ferris wheel. I shuffled over to Michael weirdly. He gave me a small sexy smile and my insides where doing flips. I grabbed his shoulders to help me up and I stood on my tippy toes. I leaned up to his cheek and gave him a light peck.

I moved back and he just looked at me. Maybe I shouldn't have done that. His eyes showed so many emotions, that I couldn't keep up.

"I think I'm going to go inside......" I started and he pulled me into a kiss stopping me mid-sentence. When we moved away from each other I took in a big gulp of air. I had stopped breathing when he kissed me.

Hold up, he just kissed me.

My heart went into overload. He slowly let go of me and pushed back the hair that stuck to my face. I felt as I blushed.

"Can I see you tomorrow?" he asked. I nodded.

"Yes." I said breathlessly. He smiled and kissed my cheek and he left.

I stood there for second, then turned around dazed closing the door behind me. As soon as I heard the click of the door I screamed with joy and I jumped on my couch. This day couldn't have been any better. I pulled out my phone and realized I had gotten two text messages. One from my friend Alana and the other from Kat.

I opened Alana's first. It said:

Hey we shuld hang out 2morrow

I smiled yea I had to tell her something. I texted back:

Yea we have 2 I gotta tell u sumtin

I sent it and I looked at Kat's text. I ended up rolling my eyes. She wrote:

Maria!!!! U hav 2 tell me everything!!!!! Nd I mean everything!!! :D

I rolled my eyes again after reading it twice. I thought about what to tell her and I decided to just tell her everything. She would find out anyway.

I texted her:

Well he took me 2 the fair and sum crazy things happened the ferris wheel nd then he kissed me

I sent that and I was immediately texted back. She was such a desperate gossiper that mom and dad will find out about it.

NO WAY!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!

I texted her back:

Yes seriously.....AND he's a good kisser.

My phone rang as soon as I pushed send. I picked up and glad to find out it was Alana.

"Hey Alana, what's up?" I asked.

"What do you need to tell me? Because you know how I get when you say you have tell me something." she said so fast, my head was spinning.

"Okay, well I met this guy...." I started.

"OMG! Who is he?!" She screamed through the phone. I sucked my teeth.

"I'll tell you tomorrow." I said and she spazed trying to make tell her now." No you have to wait till tomorrow."

"Fine." I think she put down her phone and walked away from it, but not far enough I still kind of heard her.

"John, I'm going over Maria's place okay I'll be back in a few." she had said.

My face grew in shock she was going to make me tell her. She hung up the phone not even saying goodbye.
