Meeting Michael

Meeting Michael

A Chapter by Rae Rae

I lay on my couch reading one of my favorite books of all times, Waking the Witch by Kelley Armstrong. When my phone rang. I pick it up with a loud sigh escaping my lips. “Hello.”

“Hey there big sis.” I hear my little sister Katherine say. I rolled my eyes, she never called unless she needed something.

“What do you want?” I asked a little annoyed.

“Oh come on, I can’t call my sister and see how she’s doing?” She said with a fake gasp in the beginning. I rolled my eyes again and sat my book down on my coffee table, I finished it anyway.

“No, because you don’t call me, ever, unless you need something.” I said. She sighed loudly on the other end and she finally got to the point.

“Okay, I need a ride to a party. Can you give me a ride?” She asked. I lifted an eyebrow.

“What happened to your car?” I asked, I’m 24, and Kat is only three years younger.

“I kind of trashed it when I got drunk the other night.” She said and I bet you she wasn’t going to tell our parents since they were the ones paying her car bills. Not that they would get mad either way, she was their baby girl.

“Why should I?” I said.

“Because you are my big sister and you’re supposed to help me when I need it.” She said and she did that every time I start to say no to her. I was just too nice to say no. I stood up and stretched.

“Fine, but I probably won’t do this again.” I said, and she snorted. She knew I would help her again if she asked, but I wasn’t going to say anything. I just didn’t have the will anymore.

“Okay see you soon.”

“I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.” I said and was about to hang up.

“Oh, how about you come too, it’ll be fun. So dress up before coming here, I’ll give you an hour and a half to be ready and here at my door steps.” She said and hung up before I could protest. Oh I hated that girl sometimes.

I looked at the watch on my wrist and saw the time. Seven o’clock exactly. Whatever, I’ll go , only because I have nothing else to do tonight. I went to take a short shower. I washed my hair and decided to curl it since I had the time. My hair was a good color it was like the outside of an almond, unlike my sister’s; she had red hair.

Everyone loved her hair. Well of course they would she was perfect. I got out of the shower and started to dry my hair and thought about what to wear. I walked into my room which was the biggest room in my house. I had a lot of books so I had a bunch of book shelves.

I walked over to my closet and tried looking for a dress. I looked, went through my closet twice and still didn’t know what to wear. I groaned and walked over to my mirror. I pulled my bangs out of my face and looked at myself. Why was I doing this again?

Oh yeah, I have nothing better to do. I looked at my eyes; they were starting to turn a hazel color. My eyes changed from teal, to green, to hazel and to brown. They were weird. I sucked my teeth and decided to brush my teeth and think of what to wear while I was, I plugged in the curling iron and walked to the bathroom.

When I finished I decided to go with the purple dress I got last week, I was going to go out with my friend Alana but she had canceled. She was going to Fiji with her boyfriend John, oh wait now fiancé he proposed to her while they were there.

I pulled on the dress slowly not wanting to wrinkle it. When I had it on I adjusted it to snuggle around my thighs. It didn’t go any lower than that. The dress pushed my chest up and kept them in place, and I liked that they didn’t move around. I walked over to the curling iron and started curling my now dried hair. After that I started putting on my make-up. I wanted to make the smoky look, using only purple and black.

I finished and stood back so I could look at myself in my full sized mirror that hung on the back of my door. I looked pretty good, now all I needed were the right shoes and my outfit would be perfect. I walked to my closet once again and looked at my heels, which I only had like three pairs. I chose my favorite black pumps. I slipped them on and I got a few inches taller, and I was already short so it didn’t matter (I’m only 5’3).

I looked at my digital clock. I had at least twenty minutes before meeting my sister, and she only lived five minutes away. Regrettably.

I grabbed my black wrist watch and then my coat. Turning everything off, I left making sure my door was locked. I hopped into my black Mercedes and went to pick up my annoying little sister.

It took about eight minutes to get to her house, that my parents so graciously bought her, thanks to stoplights and old ladies driving their cars. I pull out my cellphone and called her.

“Hello.” She answered.

“Come outside, I’m here.” I said and she hung up and I saw her walk out the house in her famous red dress. It clung to her in every spot. Man did she love to show off her body. She ran over as fast as she could in her red pumps. She hopped into my car and she fastened her seat belt.

“Thank you.” She said as she caught her breath. She turned to look at me and smiled.

“LOOK AT YOU!” She said a bit too excited. I coward away into my door, my back pressing into the handle making it hurt. She shook her head.” You look great, when were you going to tell me you had that cute dress. I would have made you come to a party with me last time.” She said.

“Because you hardly call to ask me about my day, and plus you would only come and take it from me.” I said. She giggled.

“Yeah you’re probably right.” She said and we took off. I stopped at a stoplight down the street from her house.

“Where is the party anyway?” I asked. She looked at me and she scrunched her nose.

“Um, oh yeah. It’s at Club Luna.” She said. I never went to Club Luna but I knew where it was and knew what it looked like. Alana had went there and said the place was amazing. The roof was made of glass, and the moon usually shows above it unless it was a new moon. The floors weren’t glass but they reflected the moon, and the black lights were also cool.

“Alright, we’ll be there in ten minutes.” I said. She nodded and she looked back towards the road. She sat quiet for a while until she started getting restless, and it’s only been three minutes I might add.

“Are we there yet?” She whined.

“You sound like the movie and no, we’ll be there soon.” I said and I picked up the speed just a tad. We got there in one piece and faster than I said it would take and Kat was happy about it. When we stepped out of the car it was like the paparazzi were there. Kat was surrounded by people in seconds, like she was a Queen Elizabeth or something. I rolled my eyes and started walking away while she blabbed her mouth off. When she realized I was leaving her, she quickly broke free of the crowd and scurried over to me.

“Don’t leave me.” She said.

“What you were talking to your friends, no need for me to be around.” I said and she pouted. I rolled my eyes and we walked to the entrance and I pulled out my ID card to say I was over nineteen, and I walked in. Kat right behind me she quickly screams.

“LET THE PARTY BEGIN!” I looked at her as if she was crazy. The next thing I knew, loud music was blasting away and my little sister was dancing like a maniac. I stood in the corner of the room, wishing I wasn’t here, but in my living room reading a good book. Everyone was avoiding me, and that just made it worse. I was about to leave when I person caught my eyes.

I looked back and I saw him standing against the wall on the opposite side of the dance floor from me. He was gorgeous, with a capital G. From where I was he looked like a god, his skin a nice shade of bronze and it didn’t look like he tanned. He looked like he a good build and looked pretty tall.

He was looking around and his eyes landed on me and I quickly looked away embarrassed. I grabbed my things and started heading to the exit when Kat stops me. “Where are you going? You haven’t even danced once yet.” She said.

“I think you dance enough for both of us Kat.” I said and she took my hand.

“Come on, one dance then we’ll go.” She said and I shook my head.” Come one.” She sounded as if she was a five year old crying for candy.

“Excuse me.” I heard and my body went all weird. I looked next to Kat to see the Mr. Hunky god standing there. He smiled when our eyes made contact. Oh god he was so gorgeous.

“Hey there.” Kat said, letting go of my hand. I knew she would when she saw him. He looked at her and gave her a smile.

“Hi.” He said back, his voice was exotic. Oh and I was right when I said he had a nice build, you could tell by the way his shirt stretched on his muscles. Kat slyly put her hand on his chest and slid it down to his stomach.

“Would you like to dance with me?” She asked. As always, I was expecting him to be over here because of her. He gave her a look, as if thinking to say yes or no. I guess I knew the answer already.

“How about next time.” He said. She gave a shocked look as did I. he turned back to me and took my hand. “Dance with me.” He said, more like demanded. I couldn’t say no though, so I was pulled onto the dance floor, giving my things to Kat. I was dreaming wasn’t I?  He pulled me to the middle of the dance floor. He spun me around and pulled me into him.

"What's your name?" I asked. He smiled and answered.

"Michael." he said I smiled now I knew his name.

"Now yours tell me." he said. I giggled.

"Maria." I said and dirty dancer by Enrique Iglesias came on. This was one of my favorite songs even though I may not seem like the type to like this song. I looked up at Michael it looked like he didn't like the song much.

"Something wrong." I asked. He looked down at me and shook his head. We started dancing.  I think I danced more than I ever have in one night. Michael took my hands and I moved back, he pulled me back to him and I realized the time when I looked at my wrist.

"I have to go." I said and he gave me a sad look. I pouted with the thought of leaving but in all honesty I just wasn't cut out for this kind of thing. So I pulled him along with me to the exit. Michael followed without any complaints.

"I had a good time thanks for asking me to dance." I said taking my things from a guard who I knew Kat bribed to hold.

"No I had a good time I'm glad I asked you." he said his voice was just so god damn sexy." Maybe I'll see you again, hopefully." He kissed me on the cheek and walked away. I didn't even get a chance to ask him his number. I sighed and put on my coat. I caught Kat drinking at the bar and I went to get her.

"How much did you drink?" I asked. She looked up to me and smiled I sighed. One too many I'd say. I took her hand and was about to leave. “How much do I owe you?" I asked. The bartender looked up and he smiled.

"It’s alright it's on the house." I knew it would be. I nodded saying thanks and I pulled Kat away from the drink she had in her hand.

"Okay no more drinking for you." I said and she pouted and I just grabbed her coat from the same guard as last time. She put on her coat and we left. It was freezing cold outside and I closed my coat a little more.

"Oh my god it’s so cold."  Kat said, hopefully the cold will sober her up.

I walked over to my car and unlocked it. Kat jumped in and she closed her eyes, planning to fall asleep. I should take her to the hospital to see if she has alcohol poisoning. I sighed and got into the car and drove to saint Mary’s hospital. I woke Kat up and she looked at the hospital dazed.

We walked into the main building. I walked to the front desk, and the lady asked me why I was here.

“Excuse me, can you check my sister to see if she has alcohol poisoning.” I said. She nodded and she called a doctor to come and get her. Doctor Lesley Madison came to get her and take her to get some tests done. I sat down on a bench and waited for them to come back. I looked out the large glass window which was the size of the entire wall. It was pitch black outside now and I couldn’t see really anything.

I stood up and asked the lady at the desk to tell my sister to come outside if I’m not back in here. She kindly said she would. I wish everyone in the world was like her. I walked outside putting my coat back on. It was a lot colder now. The moon was the only light outside and that just made it seem more ire. I started heading for my car which was thankfully, in a patch of light created by the hospital. I walked over to my car and someone turned me around.

I screamed and a hand went over my mouth. I looked at the person who grabbed me, it was a guy. He was hot but I shouldn’t really think like that when he had me in this position.

“Shhh, it is okay I’m not trying to hurt you.” He said, I rolled my eyes yeah right.” I just want you to be mine.” He said and I looked at him like he was crazy. He leaned down towards me and I squirmed to get away. A flash of a bright light came in between us and the man backed away quickly.

“Crap.” He looked at me his eyes an ominous red.” I’ll come get you next time. Don’t forget about me.”
