ConversingA Chapter by Cresent_Rose
His hair was a bright blonde, slicked back and curled neatly at the bottom. His shirt a long sleeved baby blue tucked into a light pair of brown jeans. He seemed like an ideal father figure, well fit, clean and most of all rich by the looks of his black and gold wrist watch. The man's wife was just as lovely, if not then even more so. Her dark brown hair pulled back in a tight bun, elegant and without one flaw visible throughout the style. Her clothing was presented perfectly as well, a pink tang-top over a thin decorative white sweater, and a blue pair of jeans, everything smooth and proper. Looking at them made Danny wonder why he was there, and why they were so interested in him, a scraggily teenaged boy with dirt practically clinging to his face. And although Danny was handsome, with a rusty-rose skin color and dark auburn hair, he definately didn't fit the image of picture-perfect like this couple had. Plus, for the last five minutes all anybody had done was scrutinize the other, passing time by making judgmental accusations in a silent perspective, which did not help him feel any better. "Danny Wilconce, am I correct?" The woman asked, shifting uncomfortably in her seat, it was clear she was already intimidated by Danny's 'improper' taste of clothing. His dark blue cloth jacket torn and caked with mud, while his jeans fell loose to his hips, barely concealing his black boxers. "Do your friends call you something else?" "Call me whatever you want." Danny replied, pointedly glaring at her like an animal who's found it's prey. The woman shied away from his gaze and clung to her husband's arm, who didn't seem to notice the awkwardness amongst them. "They said you were... difficult, but that if I waited to get to know you a little you'd be your sweet self." She whispered placing a hand upon her chest while looking to her husband. "This is Robert, and I'm Emma." "Yeah they told me." Danny said, playing with a piece of string that disentangled from his jacket, starting to feel guilty for being so rude while Emma continued to try and be polite. It seemed that most couples would have left already. Emma nodded slowly, "I'd like to get to know you Danny... if you'd be more tolerant of us I'd like to hear things about yourself." He shrugged still focusing on the string, unraveling it more with each tug. "What do you want to know...?"
"Ay Lucius! You wouldn't believe the story I gotta tell you!" Lucius' eyes narrowed, his skeletal fingers gripping tightly onto his book as he tried to focus on the words rather then his 'friend' who so bravely sauntered up beside him, loud and obnoxious as always. "I'm reading right now." He replied softly, his voice snide and indifferent. "Read this!" The boy laughed, practically shoving a different book into Lucius' face, disrupting his reading further. "I snatched it from this girl, who bumped right into me and didn't even apologize; she was mumbling about some stupid massacre s**t, and so didn't even notice." "I said, 'I'm reading right now' Timothy." Lucius repeated pushing the book away from his face, but not before catching a glimpse of its title, 'Emily Dain Hellion'. The boy frowned, "I told you it ain't Timothy." He snapped, sitting beside Lucius on a stone-bench settled beside the woods of the orphanage' small yard. "You can call me Vicious; I want it for my gang name." Halfway turning a page in his book, Lucius froze. "Your gang name?" He laughed, openly mocking Timothy. "How funny...." "I'm serious...! It's for when I join your gang." Timothy whispered, visibly hurt. Lucius scowled in disgust, anger clear in his cold gray eyes. "For the last time, I am not a 'gang leader'. As if I'd actaully be apart of something so stupid." "Don't kid me around, I know your apart of one, I want in!" "Then go around and ask people if they want to join your gang instead of asking to be in a non-existent one." "Come on Lucius!" Timothy snapped, hitting Lucius' shoulder. "Let me in!" Lucius dropped his book, his hands trembling in a silent throb of frustration. Leave me alone Timothy! Lucius thought, and almost repeated it out-loud had he not caught a sight very interesting to him. Walking along the path way Danny Wilconce and a young couple stood, exchanging short good-byes, each with a timid smile on their faces. It was clear the couple liked Danny that they would do more then consider adopting him. And for some reason Lucius had the eerie feeling as to not let that happen. I think I should have a little fun with these two. He thought, smiling a cold smile. "Alright Timothy-" "Vicious." Timothy corrected, clearing his throat. "...Right, fine, anyways I'll let you apart of my gang, if you complete a simple test." "Cool...!" Lucius pointed to Danny, "I want you to fight Wilconce, and win." Timothy glared at Lucius, surprised, "...huh?!" "At any costs...." Lucius added, ignoring Timothy's confused glance. "C-Can't I just steal some... key chain or somethin?" "You've bothered me about this for some time Timothy. You can either do this, the real deal... or amateur work. It really shouldn't be too hard, I hear Danny's rather weak despite his appearance." Lucius persuaded, lightly touching Timothy's shoulder. "Of course it's your choice." © 2008 Cresent_RoseAuthor's Note
