A Mournful Wakening

A Mournful Wakening

A Chapter by Cresent_Rose

There was a voice from beside him, soft and sweet, almost like a lullaby only without any singing involved. He wanted to hear the voice completely, but every now and then it'd stop as though answering questions and conversing with another. It made him slightly jealous that the voice wasn't concentrating on him but someone else as well.

"Danny...?" The voice called out his name, making him smile smugly although he tried to hide it. Nope, I'm sleeping all day this time. He thought, curling more into the covers of his bed, embracing them tightly around him. "Danny I know you're up... you're smiling." There was a pause, then a sigh, then an adrupt shaking to his shoulder. "Wake up!"

"Nooo..." He groaned out, scooting himself further to the edge of his mattress. "I'm tired mom."

There was another pause, a longer one then before. Danny opened his eyes, slowly adjusting them to the light leaking from the windows half-opened curtains. He turned to his back, stretching out his limps and yawning loudly. "What's wrong?" He asked groggily, looking over expecting to find his mother, smiling a loving smile and shaking her head in false disappointment. Instead he saw two beautiful green eyes glimmering softly from sad unshed tears, and a girl no older then himself.

The girl looked down to her hands, avoiding Danny' pale stare. "There's a young couple waiting to talk with you." She whispered, quickly removing herself from his side and exiting the crowded room. Another girl, who'd been standing beside her followed, ridiculously frantic about leaving.

Danny looked to the window again, holding out his hand to block the suns brightness. Oh yeah... my parents are dead.

exciting - exiting?
Another girl, who'd been standing beside her followed, ridiculously frantic about leaving - perhaps add a comma in before "followed" as well, to make the sentence run smoother.

Sorry it took me so long to get around to reading this. It's really good work. I'm looking forward to more...whenever you get around to putting more up. I like how he he's thinking of the day as just another normal one, even going so far as to call the girl next to him "Mom." It's realistic that he should forget, and the reaction he gives after is realistic as well. Beautiful words, love. Please, continue.
