You're So Pretty

You're So Pretty

A Poem by FlatLineBeauty

You're so pretty
I wish I looked like you!
Compliments
All adoring and encouraging
Yet...
Meaningless

You're so pretty
I don't know how anyone couldn't like you!
Why not?
I'm just like anyone else
Who breathes and bleeds
I hate me, too

You're so pretty
I can't stand you!
Jealousy
Another insecure woman
Who doesn't want to make friends
All because her man
MIGHT
Find me attractive

You're so pretty
I bet people come to see you all the time!
It's lonely
I haven't really had a visitor
Not for months
People normally assume I'm surrounded

You're so pretty
You just don't understand what it is like
To be rejected!
I understand...

I understand I am pretty
I understand rejection
I understand what it's like
To be judged
AT FACE VALUE

I understand what it is like to be belittled
All because to some
They view me as just some pretty distraction
With no feeling
Without a purpose
I know all too well
Because you just did, too!

I felt the depth of what it's like to be a beautiful rose in a garden full of thorns. The evolution of women in modern day society is so cut throat and competitive that even the things meant to be enjoyed in life, like love and relationships are a competition and a mark on who has the best piece of the cut. I love the way you drive this write with intent to deliver a message.

Expressed well the frustration of self-doubt and the genesis of jealousy... An instructive piece of writing
