Hearts Can't Be Healed

Hearts Can't Be Healed

A Poem by FlatLineBeauty

She lays all alone in the darkness curled in a ball on her bed
Longing to be touched and held
Wanting to feel a sweet, tender embrace
Tears stream down her face
Pain from her heart shattering

She would rather feel a physical pain
Rather than the emotional
Things that can’t be seen with the eye
Always seem to hurt the most

It is amazing how much pain the body can take
A physical laceration that can be healed
Scars that can be hidden
Treated with stitches and casts
Pain medication that can ease the discomfort

When a heart shatters it has to heal on it’s own
Some hearts never really heal
Hearts carry scars too
Pain floods back with small triggers

Sometimes triggers can come in a dream
It can even be a small phrase
Even just a look or a lie
For a pain like this, there is no cure

We just go on day to day
Painting the smile on once again
Pretending everything is okay
Until one day we snap
Everything falls apart

It’s hard to start over without looking back
Difficult to trust again
Feeling like broken glass
Until someone shatters you again

Some hearts never heal...

Captured the emotion, the moment and source excellently...then nailed it to a cross!

I would say no heart ever feels. The one cut that never heals. Great piece.
