A Poem by FlatLineBeauty

The tears still flow freely down my cheeks
I often wonder how it came to this
The feeling of excitement welling up inside me
Anytime I saw your name
I used to love the way you made me feel
For once I had felt loved
I could have sworn that I was almost alive
A feeling of dread quickly flooded over me
This time I pushed too far
Pushed you away into the arms of someone else
I hate thinking about it
Wondering if you tell her the same things you once told me
Do you kiss her the way you kissed me?
Everything has turned upside down
Seeing you only brings pain
I still love you
Care has never left
It's like you ripped out my heart
Turning it to dust
Why does this have to be so painful?
I hope you are happy
That she treats you right
I will sit here by my pile of ashes
Shifting the dust of what is left in my hands
Nothing will ever be the same again
An emotional emptiness fills my whole body
The pain is more than I can bare

Thank you so much for reading. xo Winter
A very relate-able piece for me. The most stinging element of a breakup is the burden of curiosity is breeds, as one is left to wonder how an ex-partner is getting along with a new love. It seems inevitable that one will compare the relationship they once had to the one being had by the ex with a new partner. It's not a fun predicament to say the least, but you've presented it as raw and directly as it can be presented. Well done Winter.
