Pain from the Past

Pain from the Past

A Poem by FlatLineBeauty
"

I would like to thank one of my best friends who has been there with me through all my sunshine and storms. I was having a terrible day and he helped me write this.

"
The pain from the past can creep up on you
like a cat in the night
leaving a scar that no one can see.

Mentally breaking us down over the years
without even yourself noticing til it's too late
leaving such a hunger that no amount of love and caring can fill.

The pain blinding you to the truth of the future
eating away at the soul like a virus
leaving us dead inside with nothing left but an empty shell.

The pain from the past can rob you
of your hope and joy
filling the future with misery and sorrow.

It can drive away a bright future
clouding us with visions
of fear of being hurt.

Weighing us down like a ball and chain
the addiction of pain drowns us with the sea of sorrow
us in a comatose state blinding us from a new perspective.

Pain being cold and ruthless isolates us in a desert of sorrow;
feeling dry and never ending leaving us thirsty for relief
pushing us to the edge and mocks us to give up.

No matter how lost, dead inside, or hopeless you feel;
just remember in every dark tunnel to shift your gaze and fuel your fierce
heart and push on to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Great job, I am not a great authority on poetry, because i tend to be wordy and long winded, however I do enjoy it.

I love how the last line was inspiring :) it's terrible how pain controls our life in a way, but as cliche as it sounds, things always get better

Yes it does. I agree. Thank you for the review. ^^ xo Winter
This is an absolutely amazing piece of poetry. It truly is remarkable how dark memories from bad things in ones life can crop up from most random things

I loved this. I could feel my own pain getting merged with this poem, and it was a beautiful experience.

I feel like we all possess a deep-seeded masochistic nature to us. Meaning that our pain may lead us to something greater than we were before. I enjoyed this.
