Definition

More slam poetry. I was feeling angry. :)

Teenager

       by definition

       a juvenile between the onset of puberty and maturity

       by parental definition

       a lazy child,

       immature

       greedy

       ungrateful

 

"What do you want for Christmas?"

      is asked.

beginning to answer

"I'd like a new cell phon-"

"New cell phone?! You probably want

a laptop

a t.v

an iPod

new clothes too!"

 

i was saying cell phone charm.

mine broke off

i lost it.

your last stanza gets me right in the heart~ so many parents are so quick to finish the thoughts for their children even if the adult is so going down the wrong path~ and rarely do the grown ups say~ sorry m'bad~ or let the child speak~ makes me really glad I raised my girls the way I did with an open door policy~ nothing was taboo to ask or discuss~ and I always listened until they completed a thought~
this poem is not only well constructed but poignant and indicative of the short fuse and patience adults seem to be guilty of nowdays in their rushabout days~
