Leaving

Leaving

A Poem by Windy
"

A fearful and confusing time for me.

"

Moving day is quickly approaching

I don't want to go, I feel like I am choking

Leaving the "kids" and grandkids behind

It's not my thing, I'm not that kind

To be back with my husband my heart longs

Yet how to explain it's here I'm at home, It's here I belong

There is no easy answer, only time will show

If I pack up and leave, or I just don't go

Why did he have to take a new job

Why did he have to move so far off

I wish he had stayed no matter the cost

For leaving my home I will surely be lost

My life is not over there are far worse things with to contend

I'm just not ready for this phase of my life to be at an end

My palms are sweaty my heart beats faster

As he calls yet again to see what's the matter

How do I tell the man I adore, the man I'd give my very life for

I've chosen my family over him, Won't he just come home again

Hello, now, you must turn the negative into a positive! Think of all the new adventures that await you! New friends! New places to see! New restaurants! New parks! New, new, new! How exciting! Think of the letters you can write to your family! And about all the things, all the new things, that you will have to write about! You can make them so jealous with all your news, that they will want to come and visit you! You will have a new home to decorate, rearrange, and make your own with your own special touches! How exciting! I'm so excited for you!

You feel very sympathetic with the narrator..and you begin to feel her grief.
Great way of expressing emotion,
Lauren

I can understand the mixed feelings alright, and it's unfortunate that such a choice had to be made. Hopefully, love will endure. Sam

Wow, what a dilemma. I am in the same one except the opposite way around. Your the first one I've told. Lucky you. Marvelous write. When poems pull feelings out of you to self examine you know its a good read.

A very touching and sad piece, wonderfully written. Heartfelt. I hope writing and sharing it here has washed away some of the sorrows and soothed the pains.

This is such a sad post, but you've been strong and used your feelings to express a marvellous piece of work. Maybe writing it has helped?

It's so awful when you have hard choices to make, life can alter so dreastically. There's no advice anyone can give either, it has to be your choice and then, you have to live with it. I wonder though if you have to move from one chapter to another through life? Sometimes when we don't do something because it seems so hard, we look back and bitterly regret it at a later date. Guess imagining the situation can help.

Anway, sorry about that.... went on too long.

You've written with extraordinary honesty and stark emotion, and, it's heartbreaking... but, you've also written very well, formed your phrases and used words to express something very clearly.

Thank you very much for sharing. Hugs for your feelings.

Wow...I totally empathize with you after having moved 11 times in 16 years. I never had to move away from my kids and grandkids though. That would be even more trying. I wish you well. Carole

Oh Windy..

Wow. Being a mother and grandmother myself, this hurts. I am unmarried now, so hard to say what I would do, but I am currently separated from my sons, and four of my grandchildren as well as the rest of my fam, ... as I moved here to Hawaii to be with my daughter and her children who need me because her husband is deployed to Iraq. I'll try to shorten this up....

...it hurts to be separated from your family. Those choices are never easy. Your husband.... is your home. Your children are grown now ?? If yes, given the same choice, they would likely move. But, that's so easy to say. I am miserable sometimes w/o my boys and other grandkids...

Whatever choice you make, make sure it is one you can live with so you don't develop feelings of resentment ... or guilt.

Much love and peace my friend.
I wish you all the best...

Dani
