Melody so SweetA Poem by Amy WhetzellIts about loss~ I cannot feel you, I cannot see you, I cannot even recall your scent. ~ When its dark and quiet and no one's around, I lay down on my pillow and feel your arms on me wrapped around ~ I feel so safe in your arms. I open my eyes and you're gone. ~ I no longer feel your arms holding me tightly, nor can I feel your fingers intertwined with mine ever so nicely. ~ I listen for your whispers but only silence fills the air. Only I can wipe the tears away now, for you're so far away. ~ I wrote a song for you which you can never hear I never got the right tune and now you're nowhere near ~ 'Twas a melody so sweet for it was created in love I thought I had time to finish And I knew I'd never give up ~ I wasn't forewarned of your departure I didn't know you'd leave too soon I thought I'd have so many years so many more moments with you ~ How do I finish your song, simply sift through the memories? Without you at any close distance my soul cries, for you've drifted too far away from me ~ Why did you give out so soon? Why did you have to die? How can I now give you your song? I never even got the chance to say goodbye. ~ With every passing day, your memory weakens, and my longing for you grows. ~ © 2011 Amy Whetzell |
