Sad Smile

Sad Smile

A Poem by Amy Whetzell
"

It's what I see and feel when I look into my own eyes; I was attempting an objective opinion of myself (as if that makes sense).

"
I looked into her eyes
But I had to turn away
Uniquely colored emeralds that shine and smile
But also so full of sorrow

What soul can endure such anguish as I read in those eyes
Pain as deep as an endless hole, bright as lightning ripping across the sky
How can there also be hope and light?
How do those eyes contain both good and evil within them?

What demons has this soul faced,
And has she yet won?
Shrouded in eternal night and yet finds a way to wish upon the stars

Those eyes
Take a step into those
Beautifully pained eyes
Get lost in her sad smile
