My Heart Spoke To Me

My Heart Spoke To Me

A Poem by Amy Whetzell
"

Just one more love that wasn't meant to be

"

So much weighs on my mind:

My kids and what they need of me;

My career or the lack thereof;

The fact that no one takes me seriously.

So much stress piles on my brain

And still I find my heart speaking to me.

She tells me to stop and take a step back

She tells me to remember the love that once was but shall not be again

She tells of a love she wants for me; "My match" she says

The face she shows is yours.

I stop her, time and again

I tell her it cannot be; I am not ready

She says I have been ready for a long time

But my shield has hidden her

From the light, from life.

So much weighs on my mind

But I am forced to pause my depression

My heart got through and spoke to me

She neglected to say my destination

But she spoke of a journey I am to make

And it seems that you have been implicated in her premonition.
