For My Mama

For My Mama

A Poem by Amy Whetzell
"

I wrote this for my mama; one of just a few pieces I've written that she understands

"

~For my Mama~

I know a lady

She really is like no other

She'll forever take care

Of me, my sister, and my brother.

She'd never turn us away

Though at times I really wonder WHY

She takes our crap like a real woman

Where others would've given up and said good bye

She takes care of me the most

And I've done not a thing to thank her

She feeds, shelters, clothes, and taxis

Me, and my small yet trying family

All I do is shovel out undone promises

I neglect to show my appreciation

So I won't make another empty promise

I'll just beg your forgiveness, Mama, for my troubles

And pray you don't give up on me just yet.

After all, what is life without faith?
