ReighnPounderA Poem by ArchAngel
In my memories I recall an old dwarf, who taught me a secret unknown. He told me I would become an ancient with the knowledge that I would be shown.
He said to give heart to all that I would meet, no matter what. I must always be kind. And if any denied my passing of care, move on. They will accept it in time. The ReighnPounder then spoke of the ancients and the paths they had to trade. How they tossed aside all that was achieved, cast aside by this choice they had made. I then stayed with the ReighPounder for weeks or months, in truth I really don't know. I can still see quiet clearly, him crying as he told me to go. Behind his eyes. There was something there. A secret the tears had pulled free. This secret, I knew, he would take to his grave. For I knew he would never tell me. Some years later the ancient ReighnPounder died. Filled with his memory, I laid him upon a pyre. Pushed into the Crescent Lake. An arrow of flames from the shore set the fire. I remember well the pillar of flames that set the dwarven soul free.......I don't miss the wise man all that much anymore.......For the Rieghnpounder still flows within me. © 2015 ArchAngel |
