What they don't want to hearA Poem by Eilidh
She had to stop
And take a minute To take a breath And put in the mask they wanted to see Who she wanted to be But couldn't because it was too hard to change She counts to three And pictures the smile that's going to have to be upon her face They want her to say she's fine That she's happy and her problems have gone away They want her to say she has seen the light And no longer only sees darkness They don't want her to say she's not alright And hasn't seen the light That she puts on a mask and a smile To please everyone around They don't want to hear That she walks about in a mental darkness everyday That she doesn't know what to do with her life She walks about lifeless When there's no one around She no longer knows what to do She's going to lose her mind But would anyone care? Things have no meaning anymore People don't mean anything to her anymore She's all alone, with only the thoughts in her mind She's ready to give up So why doesn't she? A new day begins And she's back at the start The mask and fake smile are back Nobody needs to know about the night she's had She takes a breath And out she goes © 2014 EilidhAuthor's Note
