Of Mice And Men, Updated
A Poem by Willys Watson
OF MICE AND MEN, UPDATED
Running amok,
without mukluks,
trying to outrun
a rabid woodchuck.
Down on my luck,
mired in mud and muck,
having lost my gun,
finally unstuck.
Nearing my truck,
while chased by a buck,
nature knew it won,
cried the flock of ducks.

I wrote this silly thing in about ten minutes while listening to opera on K-USC and reading and responding to posts on Facebook. Yes, I know this sucks, but at least sucks rhymes with buck, amok, truck, etc. This poem was actually inspired by a friend's post where she quoted the famous line 'The best laid schemes of mice and men often go askew.
