~~Autumn- ("Things change")~~

I wrote this a few years ago, but it is still just as, if not more relevant, today. To sum it all up: things change. I must give credit to my arts camp instructor Kate Callahan for suggesting the theme of change.

things change

the sun rises

and sets.

darkness prevails

yet the light will appear again

in tarnished radiance.

things change

lovers quarrel

bridges burn

friendship crumbles.

yet a new day begins

and things change.

the ages shift

in the eternal universe.

things change

an innocent child

soon toils through adulthood.

things change

the curtain of a mother's shelter

is torn to see the truth.

things change

the heart breaks

and mends.

the dusty mirror of our past

ages and cracks.

things change

the leaves fall

a youthful hand shrivels and wrinkles.

time is a curious thing-

its sturdy arms forever turning.

time waits for no one--

and we must remember this.

things change--

the past is left behind

in earth's ancient shadow.

things change--

and are

never

the same

again.

well, I wrote this when I was 14, so it's not perfect, (I'm now 16).

Oo, I love the beginning. The way this was written really captivates the reader and makes it interesting enough for them to contintue. You have a great style, really unique and not something everyone's read before. Lovely piece of poetry, great work! =)
