Afraid of goodbye

Afraid of goodbye

A Poem by willweb

~

Chained to the wall
with a necklace of silver
Hung out to dry
on the first rainy day
Push comes to shove,
it's been waiting forever
Here at the end,
I've got something to say

Where did you go,
when the sun painted April
Leaving behind,
every kiss you had blown
Feeling the squeeze
and it felt, quite amazing
Night after night
as I lie there alone

Singing like Pink,
in a female impression
Wondering why
every song sounds the same
I like the words,
matters not what they're meaning
Duets dissolve,
though she is not to blame

Soaring the skies
that were awkward, but friendly
Hiding the truth
in a small cardboard pack
Now it does come,
many years past the deadline
Oh how I wish
it was time to go back

Yet here we are,
like two peas in a salad
So hard to see,
being tossed in the crowd
Smiling inside,
while the other is reading
Silencing thoughts
that were once said out loud

Still, it's too late,
though the memories linger
Now I can live,
when it's my turn to die
Dreams have come true,
better late, well, than never
Saying hello,
still afraid of goodbye

Hellos are much easier than goodbyes but sometimes they are the best way forward.
The memories though, happy and sad, stay with us. Beautiful poem. 🌷

Thanks so much Ana. Just a short jaunt to the past.
Memories are ghosts of the past. They come, uninvited, to visit us from time to time and you have very poetically embroidered the past within the lines of this very beautiful poem, dear Willweb. The imagery is breathtakingly beautiful and simultaneously poignant. The 'missing you' feeling echoes throughout the poem and is so tangible after all these years. Outstanding penning, dear poet. Thank you so very much for sharing...

Thank you so much Mou. Happy you liked this one, I was written based on some long ago memories
Where is that other pea and why is she not speaking to me.
This is a very clever use of metaphor...
I relate to this having just had a movie date with my ex.
Many years past the deadline...we communicate.
really good poem,
thank you,
j.
