I once believed

I once believed

the rising sun

would glaze the sky

in wondrous scenes

Of pink champagne,

a morning blend,

with apricots

and tangerines

The day would bring

a gentle kiss

of petals soft

with jasmine scent

As flowers bloom

and robins sing,

melodically

of moments spent

An evening sky

would dazzle bright

of shimmered stars

and moonlit shine

That we would sit

alone each night,

so much in love

and you were mine

Though now I see

just cloudy days,

as rain drops fall

midst sorrow weaved

Since you are gone,

they fade from sight,

those wondrous things

I once believed

The beauty of the first romantic verses are sssssooooo beautiful! When they change after love has gone, they are haunting and impossible to forget. The warmth of life and love is so tangible in Stanza 1 - 6 and Stanza 7 and 8 are by contrast ice cold. It's like taking a step from a really hot summer into the middle of a very cold winter! There is a coldness which penetrated the bones of this reader, just as the warmth caressed my skin.
