Longing to hear

Longing to hear

A Poem by willweb

Longing to hear

~

She strolled quietly through a field of whispering poppies
longing to hear what they were saying
A soft murmur rose from colorful petals swaying in the
cool breeze flowing softly through her light blonde hair
Mesmerized by the vibrant pastels surrounding her,
she spun around with outstretched arms
The midday sun glistened in her happy eyes
as blooming faces turned to follow her every move
She blushed when she noticed,
they blushed at her beauty
Smiling, she whispered to herself as she
continued her stroll through the field
The poppies stood quiet
longing to hear what she was saying

Oh, to sit or lie amid the silence within a mass of poppies. The picture of poppies in my mind reminds me of November (11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month was the last one I saw, of course) here in the UK (same over there?). Nice poem, Willweb. Thanks.

Thank you so very much Nadia. I am thrilled you liked this one.
I read this after the cloud poem and it seemed to me the answer to the dilemma expressed there. Nature as a panacea I think has always been a poets go to. Reminded me of some scenes from a film on Keats that I watched recently. Not familiar enough with his work to say that nature was where he found refuge for his sorrow or not. The intimate connection between your lady and her setting is lovely and obviously a heartfelt mutually beneficial one also. -carl

I love the notion of nature speaking and write about it as well. Your poem made me feel good and long for a Summers day filled with sunshine and a gentle breeze.

Thank you so very much Chris.
I like the double blushing...and the poem showing that her lack of self-interest and interest in others was returned with the force of nature.
Oh my, I like this one, will.
