Swan songA Poem by willweb~ Out on a lake with a feathered
friend singing, lily pad gazes abound Looking for thoughts and the words
they are bringing, often not hearing a sound Spending my time on the shores of
creation, tossing a stone through the air Searching the banks for a
thoughtful summation, down, because nothing is there Pouring my heart into poetic
phrases, reading till night comes to call Not really seeking some untraded
praises, no, nothing like that at all More like a welcome, a hi, how you
doing, so nice to see you again Thanks for your time and your
kindness reviewing, let’s see what flows from your pen Don’t take this wrong, though it
sounds like complaining, there is not much I deserve Sometimes I speak when I should be
refraining, hoping I don’t hit a nerve Is it too much to expect some of
reading, maybe from those I call friend Or do I sound like a whiner who’s
pleading, losing the strength to defend It hurts when you find you are not
near the writer, that you envisioned you were Behind the tears it is not any
brighter, everything comes as a blur So here I sit with these thoughts
I am slinging, knowing, I’m probably wrong Out on a lake with a feathered
friend singing, sorrow, this swan’s lonely song, sadly, I must sing along © 2023 willwebReviews
