The edge

The edge

A Poem by willweb

~

She skipped along the edge of the lake,

her refection dancing upon its clear smooth surface,

light brown hair flowing

in the cool May breeze...

singing a melodic springtime song

while happily tossing flower petals

into the water...

and as I watched from the opposite

shore, sitting in the soft grass,

I am mesmerized by her charm

when it occurs to me...

I have never seen the lake

look more beautiful

I smile. The lake is now beautiful because her reflection is on it. At least that's what I think. There are people like that whose presence change our perspective of events and even the world. They introduce colour into a black and white world. Sorry I'm interpreting this through the prism if my own experience. Thanks for capturing an extraordinary experience through a poem so simple.

you are most welcome, Dear.
Could it be that the damsel's effervescent spirit enhanced the lake's appearance? As the song from "South Pacific" went, "There's nothing like a dame."

Yep, that is exactly it and the cool thing...I can still see her.
May days can do that to you. Right at this very minute all I can see is beautiful clear skies and sunshine, wishing I was lying on grass near a lake.
I'll put it on my bucket list for when the jailors here say I can leave.
Ps... They're lovely really, but I have to say that or they might refuse my parole! 😊
But they really do look great in their nice, clean and starched uniforms.
If I were half my age, we'll, I wouldn't be in here coughing up a lung in the first place!
Can you tell I'm going a bit stir crazy now?

Thanks Jacob.
Well it seems will, you got two for the price of one here. A beautiful lake and a beautiful lady. More romantic charm from that talented pen of yours. Full of imagery is this write.
