Wasted rhyme

Wasted rhyme

A dress in mauve, a windswept perch,

the blotted heavens claim the fall

On balanced stones, a mystic lurch,

a raven’s nest, the foolish crawl

Upon a pier of granite dreams,

with five alone to reach the peak

Ribbons float with simple seams,

alas the wingless tend to speak

Colored visions paint the sky,

keeping pace, atone the stance

Finding feathers wafting by,

drifting to a dead romance

All alone, this clouded face,

as they play the moisture’d day

Worries lost you cannot trace,

fortunes found eternal play

Nothing but the misted pink,

shades of gray, an empty smile

Delivered moments sent to think,

fantasies in broken style

Reach to grasp the feel of night,

wallowing neath a full moon shine

Thoughts of love in words to write

ending in a wasted rhyme

I loved the below lines Will.
"Worries lost you cannot trace,
fortunes found eternal play
Nothing but the misted pink,
shades of gray, an empty smile"
The above lines could stand alone. Amazing use of description used in the amazing poetry. I did enjoy.

I agree. Beautiful artwork Will.
The image is striking, and I can easily see why it inspired you. From my perspective, after what I've been through, it's not the rhyme that is wasted. It's the love that was wasted upon the wrong person.

There felt a sadness to your words, as if futility in romance, perhaps, mourning of a dying love. Yet the rhymes are never wasted. They stay in the universe to help other hearts. You did great justice to this unique artwork.

"alas the wingless tend to speak" - A line that made my come alive spiritually.

I loved it. You're most welcome, dear Willweb.
I like the image...I am not sure love is ever wasted as far as the one who loves....for him or her, there is value whether reciprocated or not.

And yet, we do not know....do not understand that...so we write poetry feeling our love is wasted as well as our words.
Yours are never wasted.
