Much more than a dream

Much more than a dream

A Poem by willweb
"

Sometimes it takes being alone with nature to understand the true path you should be taking

"

~

Caught in the essence of fern leaf desire,

long down a path through the wood

Counting the shadows foretold to inspire,

glancing the places they stood

Dreaming on branches of woven deception,

mosaic stones on the ground

Patterns of light is a dark misconception,

placed where the message was found,

leading the way you are bound

Careful your step as the forest is creeping,

vines where you walk, start to grow

Maybe you noticed the echoes now weeping,

singing a song you should know

Follow the shapes you see nature creating,

‘round every wandering turn

Knowing deep down there is no use debating,

holding the truth that you learn,

beyond the bridges you burn

This is your journey, your growth and your passion,

moments to breathe on your own

Taking some time in a solitude fashion,

silently walking alone

Gathering thoughts with the sun slowly setting,

soft the horizon does gleam

Seeking the future while never forgetting,

answers are held in the theme,

life is much more than a dream

~

This is a form I believe I have created and if I have then I shall name it...Mini-me, no wait, wrong movie. : ) I will name it "echoed stanzas" A form where the final two lines of a nine line stanza rhyme. But, if you have seen this form before and it is called something else, please let me know. Thank you.

Ok, I have been corrected. Thank you Ken, I truly was not aware. The form I used was created by a poet named Edmund Spenser about 400 years ago but...I still haven't heard of what he named it so..."Echoed Stanzas" still stands. : )

Nature is the purest of muses. I really like what you have created. From the mosaic stones to the setting Sun.

Thanks so much Cherrie, it means a lot.
That's pretty amazing will. Not just your poem, which has a nice mix of profound thoughts and strange metaphors that one might encounter in a dream. But the fact that you write in a form and structure without realizing it. The idea that a poetic mind creates structure hundreds of years ago that a modern poet finds himself unaware of, says that that form is write. Right? I'll be waiting for Ken's explanation and searching it. I can't resist a good form! (I bet ol' Ed used periods)

By chance, I just finished a poem about dreams myself. The length of the poetical wave is long indeed!

no better place to meditate. this one right up my alley with my muse thoreau being a transcendentalist (believing that god speaks to us through nature). putting things into perspective, nature indeed speaks to us if we will lend an ear and learn what it relates. we are inextricably entwined with it ... :)

Thanks so much Pete. That is so true.
I think we find comfort and peace in nature because it's part of who we are. We feel connected to something, a part of the whole. I think it grounds us and causes us to reflect on our true self, the one that knows the answers. No one knows the answers better. You captured this feeling well within your words. I find peace here.

this is an extremely well thought out, written little gem here will.

caught in the essence of fern leaf desire/long down a path through the wood is a great intro...sets mind in place for the journey to follow.

knowing deep down there is no use for debating,/holding the truth that you learn

seeing the future while never forgetting

lines that jump out at me. very much love the poem. one of your best.

now that said ... don't know if i should be the one to burst your bubble, but ... a fellow named Edmund Spenser sort of beat you to the form a little while back (400 yrs, but hey who's counting LOL)
