My apologies

My apologies

A Poem by willweb
"

Just another love poem

"

I can’t help but thinking

that something I said

has chased away any and all

My damp eyes once blinking,

appear bloodshot red,

my heartbeat is starting to stall

The echoes are filling

this giant expanse,

where I seem to stand all alone

I’m sorry for spilling

the theme of romance,

I’d change if I only had known

For all I had written

in words and in rhyme,

were feelings that came from my heart

As once I was smitten,

a magical time,

with one who shook my world apart

The love it was real,

or at least I had thought,

but soon it would all disappear

While now I just feel

like a fly that is caught,

in a web tightly woven with fear

So, it might seem strange

that the words from my pen,

are written in moments of love

See, I cannot change

the romantic I am,

she’s always who I’m thinking of

Then posting a verse

that I pray you’ll enjoy,

affection soon gets in the way

It feels like a curse,

every phrase I employ,

in stanzas that tend to display

An aching that meets

at a moment like this,

euphoric, this feel of desire

Beneath satin sheets

and a sensual kiss,

it’s just what this soul does require

Wet fingers entwined,

velvet skin against skin

the heat of the passion to grow

Till sadly I find

when I try to begin,

the problems that I ought to know

For here now it seems,

I’m becoming a bore,

it’s something quite hard to disguise

My poetic dreams,

that you all now ignore,

it’s time that I apologize

I hope you’ll excuse

all the poems I post,

I hate that they’ve caused you such pain

It’s your right to choose,

but I like love the most,

oh damn it, I’ve done it again

clever, clever....apologizing while at the same time...letting it out, all the emotion.
I remember when I first started writing poetry in 1970...I had just gone through a breakup...most of the poems rhymed and most were about her.
It fueled the poetic engine...and for that...I am not sorry...
Don't apologize, poet....we have all been there...and these poems help those who read them to process old feelings that are still in evidence.

Dear will, apologies not required when it comes to this reader. Neither am I bored by your romantic pen. Let your muse travel where she will. I have already appointed you King of Romance and your crown is still very much gleaming:) If you really do have a broken heart, I hope the hurt softens soon. Have a great Wednesday my friend.

Thank you so much my friend and I will do whatever I can to wear that crown proudly. : )
I'm not going to judge anything about this or you or her in this post. I know that sometimes relationships can be complicated at best. There are so many things that go into it, and sometimes it is just about the timing. I am sorry, though, for your broken heart, and I hope it gets better.....in one way or another.

Not so sure I can accept your apology ... 'cause you really don't have anything to apologize for. I'm sure someone will, web. You spin sticky silk. Catches us flittering bugs. And each time you have to spin a new web, their construction is unique so we don't get bored trying to escape the trap you set. What kind of silky ink does your pen shoot? I'd like to get some. I also like how you've been writing web into your poems, will.

Such powerful and true lines, Will! Indeed, we all can find such a pleasant feeling in writing our hearts out, and you have a special skill for writing such amazing pieces. I remember when I first joined this website, I read your poems and I was inspired and shocked to see such great artistry. Thanks for posting such amazing pieces!

every poet lives in search of a muse. if they're fortunate they find one. like myself, it seems you have found yours so write on friend, write on. the world needs more love. and god knows i've pretty much cornered the market in cynical, but love, that's still wide open

Ah, very cool. I like that name.
Hmmm you only think, ignored. Nothing coming from the heart is truly ignored. Perhaps, misunderstood or unrequited but, trust me, it's felt. Hold no regret for being brave enough to be true to your own feelings. Maybe the outcome remains the same, but a truly genuine soul will always shine.
...and I love your poetry!! Don't you dare hold back! :-)

There is really no need to apologize. My guess is she can't get enough of words like these.

But, I am glad you do. Thanks so much John.
Will I look to your poems for inspiration. It, at time is the content, at others it is the poetic skill with rhym, meter, or images and metaphor. I sense in your poems what I feel to be art. To me this is something that reaches my inner emotional being. To me Monet's water lillies were all masterpieces, despite painting 250 of them. By the way, I thought your last stanza was genious in this poem, it made me smile.

Dear Willweb,

I have always marveled at your skill with words and your almost unlimited capacity to feel and express your love on the written page. Your imagination and creative strokes are unparalleled and you deserve the utmost appreciation and applause for it.

You speak of a love that left a lasting impact on you and your writing reflects it strongly. I absolutely relate to that kind of love and I do understand how deeply it can move us to art. In fact, it was one such betrayal that moved me to poetry. I had to find the words, I had to express the despondency and thus began my journey with words, all on the dingy boat of one broken love affair, eons ago. So it's very understandable how love can influence our written work.

As regards those who you are apologizing to, I think they can just move on and away as I see no cause or justification for any apologies to be made to them. After all, no gun is pointed at anyone's head to read anyone's work and it really annoys me that you feel you have to apologize for your art, your beautiful labor of love. This is a place to showcase what we love to create and we must do it with no apologies to anyone. So I request you to please keep posting and sharing what you like to share best and that's your wonderful words of love because they are so you and we all love you, dear friend.
