I built it all for you

I built it all for you

A Poem by willweb

I built a castle made of sand

I wanted her to see

Then waited for an hour then

another two or three

The sun it started setting when

I saw her walking by

I shouted, "Hey come look at this,"

She turned and asked me why

I said, "I built it all for you

and I am feeling proud,"

She said she hadn't got the time

and said it very loud

I stood there as she walked away,

my heart it broke in two

I thought I should just tear it down,

yes that's what I should do

When then a little girl appeared,

her smile plain as day

She said, "I like your castle sir,

a perfect place to play"

I took a moment for myself

and then another two

When I just smiled and said to her,

"I built it all for you"

The joy I saw upon her face

was wonderful to see

It's then I noticed deep inside,

the same joy came to me

So in the future when I build

a castle made of sand

I'll leave it open who it's for,

no matter what I planned

Hey, at least it made someone happy,

can't ask for more than that. : )

Dear Willweb,
Anything built with love is never wasted. In life, we suffer rejection and in our dejection we forget this world so vast and there are so many who are in need of love and compassion and who'll absolutely appreciate our labour of love. A beautifully written poem, so touching and with a message to keep forever.

Yes. If we don't shut down our mind and heart to the universe. A wonderful thought.
Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men. Also, maybe that chick's blowing you off was best for you in the long run.

It probably was.
Thanks John.
This is reality: a meaning of words which need no thesaurus, the touch of their intentions - all wonderfully built phrases set for time, willweb,

Is said it takes one to build the walls, one to let the light shine upon their lining.

Wow, thank you so very much Neville. I am happy you enjoyed this one so much.
When we plant flowers we don't concern ourselves with who will see them. We might bring unexpected joy to anyone. I guess sandcastles can be the same. I enjoyed the read, Will.

Thank you so very much Sir.
Your ability to tell a story is pretty amazing. With just a few verses I feel like I get a novel. A novel novel! And the twist of a web at the end, as usual. The extreme of the theme rides like a rollercoaster! Which is just off in the distance there at the beach. Is there actual experience that inspired this, or just pure imagination? Good poem willweb.

This is so sweet! Quite often, things don't turn out as we planned. In the end, however, all things work out for the best, as they should. Someone higher than us knows better than us. It makes me think of that song by Garth Brooks, "Unanswered Prayers." Well done.
