The edge of romance

The edge of romance

A Poem by willweb

~

Dressed in a shade that the sun couldn’t find,

all on a cool summer’s eve

Seeking a scarf only meant to unwind,

wrapped in an untangled weave

Picking a fabric, the color of love,

stitched with a thread of desire

Taking your hand neath the heavens above,

warm in our flannel attire,

more than enough to inspire

~

Following pathways, the shape of your smile,

skipping like stones on a lake

Counting the ripples in circular style,

drenching the shore in their wake

Picking up pinecones now scattered the floor,

left of an overgrown scene

Acorns and clover and toadstools galore,

woven in soft evergreen,

what could this possibly mean

~

Heartbeat directions now lost to the breeze,

footsteps will know what we planned

Calming,  the moments we talk to the trees,

sycamores do understand

Midnight adventures by firefly light,

glistening,  leading the way

Wee hour wandering as they take flight,

below a lanterned array,

stars in a shimmered display

~

Find what you will in these words that I share,

tuck them away safe and sound

Breathe in the thoughts as you exhale the air,

now that there’s no one around

Kiss me tonight where the moon shadows dance,

soft on the eve of the morn

Holding me close at the edge of romance,

watching the sunrise adorn,

happy this new day is born

~

Beautifully poetic expression here will and romantic with it. I very much enjoyed the rhyme structure and the easy flow of your lines. Wonderful poetry. A delight to read.

Will this is what poetry is all about. Each reading reveals more, careful wording and rhythm reveals what's in store, taking on on a glorious ride. I feel as if I was walking the shore as if I'd been there before walking along side. Excuse the rift it just came out after reading this wonderful piece. I loved the imagery, particularly "Dressed in a shade that the sun couldn't find" "Picking a fabric, the color of love, stitched with a thread of desire" A very romantic poem but I feel it deeper, it talks to my soul as if the romance was not with a woman but with my own psyche and the unwrapping was of that inner self and the getting to know it. With this a new day is born.

"Kiss me tonight where the moon shadows dance" I like that. A lovely, sweet poem swelling with romance and fresco au naturale. It's bold and comfortable at the same time. I enjoyed the read. Now I'll be going around singing Moonshadow by Cat Stevens the rest of the day.

You just had to go and mention fireflies, didn't you?
The first time I knew for real they were real and not a Disney or pixar CGI trick ology was on my last visit to the States nearly a decade ago now and I instantly became seven year old mini me, oohing and aahing like I was in a magic show...whivh I suppose I was.
I can't believe they've never made it over here, or maybe they have but its too cold to ignite their lightupology.
Lots of beautiful imagery here Will, but don't be fooled. Those pinecone may look great, but taste disgusting. 😊

I am not really into the romancey thingy nor for that matter, am I much of a poet, but you handle both of these with such smooth flowing ease, I can't help being incredibly impressed.
Have I carried on like this before, quite likely but I will try and control my emotions more effectively in the future
This is yet (yawn) another poetically perfect presentation
Very, very nicely done
