I play my guitar

I play my guitar

A Poem by willweb

'On Rainy Days, The Guitar Is Also Crying - song and lyrics by Gitto | Spotify

I play my guitar,

now crying in sevens,

this cold lonely evening

with rain on the ground

In sorrowful chords,

the strings of emotion

neath three quarter tear drops

where sadness is found

As storm clouds now find

the edge of tomorrow

with thoughts ever yearning

for your melody

And yesterday dreams

sit caught in the feedback

of out of tune longings

in sad harmony

With fret coated wishes,

E minor deceptions,

still seeking the chorus

while no one’s around

A chill strums my heart,

it’s empty and hollow,

I play my guitar and

there isn’t a sound

Sometimes we just can't find the music within ourselves, even with the best musical instruments around. The soul hits rock bottom and the keys just freeze. We weep for all that's lost. A beautiful, poetic expression of sorrow and longing. I loved the subtle rhyming and flowing verses.

I get you absolutely, dear Will. But keep trying to play the music. The universe never ignores.
I can almost hear those storm clouds gather, as your soundless guitar plays hopes of yesterday and what they mean for today, as well as tomorrow.
These days all my hopes amount to are being better or less hellish than they have been of late. But that might just be put down to a lesser thoughted covid hangover. 😊

You could be right about that.
Altho' I]ve never learned how to play an instrument, I can drum my fingers.
Also, I rarely understand the metaphors that competent poets, such as yourself, constantly use, instead I write and relate in black and white.
Using my basic understandability in relating to your write, I am sure this is just a pause in your endless ability to create, that will soon be flourishing again
(Note: no metaphors used in my review)

Don't worry about the metaphors...it is just a sad poem and that's about it. Thanks so much Dave An.. read more
what an excellent metaphor.
I think there is more sound than this speaker imagines...
and there are many relating to the sad harmony.

And I'll bet you didn't even use a capo. This is a meloncholy poem to me with a lot of good metaphors playing throughout. Those minor chords always sound a bit sad.

Well done.
