Making wishes

Making wishes

A Poem by willweb

~*~

Taking a breath

beneath heaven’s glowing embers

Calling the moon

as it passes in the night

Feeling a breeze

through the branches softly whisper

Dreaming of you

under stardust glittered light

Kicking a stone

till it tumbles past the forest

Singing our song

to the echoes that I hear

Counting the stars

when I notice one is falling

Walking along

making wishes you were here

So many friends of mine are gone. I've lost a few ex-lovers too. My two best friends from childhood are both gone. But we were friends for well over forty years in both cases. That's a long time to have and maintain a friendship. This piece reminds me of things lost. Maybe in this case they're only misplaced and not truly gone. Either way, this write was a poignant, nostalgic and touching bit of sentimentality. Well done. F.

Thanks so much again my friend
Someone is missing from this scene and I felt the ache in the words. Beautiful moonlit setting will, with a myriad of stars for company. Have a good Wednesday.

Thank you so very much Chris. I always smile when you stop by.
It is a scene and setting that can invigorate the mind, body and soul better than anything a doctor could prescribe, resetting us to find an inner calm in a usually too noisy world, that can help us into realising what is truly important in life, other people, calm reflection and when the noise escapes into silence.
It's good for what ails ya, so I'm told 😊

You are welcome my friend.
The natural references are beautiful, but they don't mask the fact that the speaker is unhappy due to the absence of the beloved. Apparently time, distance and circumstances have conspired to produce that absence, and we don't know how long it will be. Maybe the speaker doesn't know, either. Sometimes love can really suck.
