Composed by love (Serpentine Verse)

A Poem by willweb

~

Softly the keys find a resonance pure, softly

adrift o’er a metronome stream, adrift

past the harmonies, three quarter time, past

dreamers and slumbering chords shimmered gleam, where dreamers

all long to caress what is heard, all

feeling vibrato on breezes a’ mist, feeling

the music ‘pon moonbeams of time to capture the

tune a pianist hath kissed, a tune

from the heart beating tempos of joy, from

deep down inside to the edge of the scale, deep

in a place that shall find no return, lost in

a breath of crescendo’s exhale, a

beautiful euphony born of desire, a beautiful

opus descends from above, an opus

of sensual echoes to feast, of

love songs, melodic, now composed by love

I was challenged to write a Serpentine Verse poem by a poetic friend of mine on here, Linda Marie Van Tassell. We agreed on the theme of A Piano Player and decided we would both post the poems today. Please go and check out Linda Marie's work, it is amazing. Here is a link to her poem

Will so glad that you introduced me to this form. The poem is beautiful and I'm sure took a good deal of work. I played the piano for some time as an adolescent and know the dedication it takes to master. (I never did) Some play for fun and some are masters, the same with poetry. I loved the feel of this poem as if I could hear the piano play.

Interesting combination of music and romance here, "a beautiful euphony born of desire." Unspoken are the erotic impulses that underlie the imagery. It is "an opus of sensual echoes to feast." There is no denying the connection between eros and music. The poet displays it tastefully here.

~ Here you show us again how the beautiful music that lives within you helps you create all that poetry that we are blessed to read from you. In fact, music and poetry are one to you. I'm so lucky to have you as a friend for such inspiration.

I've just discovered the pianist Alexis Fford and this made me think of him. A lovely flowing piece here with an obvious melody of its own.

This has an almost dreamlike quality to it, that half remembered would make me feel I was a musical genius if I weren't so musically dysleclxic and could read all those 🎶 squiggles.
But then again, when I'm in the self service checkoiylt and read out the barcode that refuses to scan, they don't know what I mean by "thin one thin one thick one thin one thick one thick!" and just call me the unexpected item in the bagging area. 😊

This is a wonderful composition Will. One of our greater gifts as humans has to be music. It is universal to every heart. It moves within us in such mysterious ways and differently as well. It pulls within the chords of our very being as if we were the instruments that it was created from. It is just not an art form but a virtue that gives life to the emotions that dwell within us. That resonate culturally as well as humanly possible. Music is as unique as we are individually. Your poem reflects the power it has and the nature to move us in many ways.
