Lingering

Lingering

A Poem by willweb

~

Golden soft, rays a’ fleeting filter,

pristine light through branches does sift

along a peach grove corridor

and dirt road dreams of scattered dust

I sit and watch the day unfolding,

hot,  the cup my hand now holds

Tiny sips of morning flavors sing

as I long for the miles to disappear

Beyond blue skies calling out to me

from northern horizons with voices melodic

I hear the music of your heart

on breezes … sugar sweet and pure

As I taste your smile of sunrise beauty,

feel your touch of dawning desire

and stare off quietly to where I’d rather be…

I sip my cup again, lingering in all that is you

~

this is a really nice morning song...I knew similar as a kid...on our street the elm trees in the front
yards made a nice tunnel through which switches of light would peek through.

Some lovely images, Willweb. Somehow my mornings are never like this, however. If we can linger for a little when the sun rises.....sometimes that is as good as it gets. Some hot tea always warms the soul, too. Very descriptive scenery. Nicely creative in that regard.

Maybe I use a little imagination when seeing these morning scenes. : ) Thank you my friend.
The speaker notes the beauties of nature, but his mind is really distracted by thoughts of another. That's the way love goes.

Beautiful morning thoughts will. You have created some gorgeous imagery here, lingering over your cup of early brew on somewhere else you would rather be. Hope your day is going well. Lovely poetry.

this is terrific. love what you brewed up here. the imagery and sentiment so strong like that sweet aroma. nothing like spending the morning silently pondering and sipping. as you say, morning was meant for lingering and anticipating a lover's missed presence. not a bad way to start a day ... :)

Those miles we travel are good things. The space between us and those we love is often a good thing as well. The poet wrote, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" Well, actually, he wrote, "Always toward absent lovers love's tide stronger flows." Sextus Aurelius Propertius But it's the same general idea. Take the miles traveled as years lived and things experienced. We live and we learn. Living is a sort of learning in itself. They call old people "wise". I wonder how many of them long to be young and foolish again. Shakespeare wrote, "Love's not time's fool." But there are plenty of foolish lovers and plenty of old fools. I enjoyed the read, F.

I enjoyed the hot dust roads reference as we are continually soaked from above. I wouldn't mind some wide open spaces and a bit of dust

👄 .
I had been away recently and was so looking forward to having a day like this today, so perhaps I should have checked in on the weather before imagining my day away as 80 mph winds blew me into next Tuesday and more snow warnings to come.
I've had to put earphones on to stop the howling screeches and all curtains and blinds closed over, while I try my best to imagine those golden rays sifting through to my sunglasses protected eyes.
I might have just had a world's first of sunbathing indoors with a penguin onesie on.
Now I shall continue where you left off and imagine the sizzle of the barbie.
We can dream, can't we. I think it's still allowed. 😊
