A Fairy named Twinkle

A Fairy named Twinkle

A Poem by willweb
"

Something lighthearted and fun for tonight

"

~

Find here a poem read throughout the ages,

passed down from elders to youngsters below

A mystical rhyme with a fairy tale ending

that maybe is true, but we really don’t know

Perhaps just a legend, the town folk all chuckle

as children run off through the forest each night

In hopes they will capture a glimpse of the magic

a small dancing fairy so happy and bright

~~~~~~~
A fairy named twinkle, the temperatures falling,
when twilight appears in its grey flannel hues
As evergreens rest with their branches a’ shimmer
and sunset reflects in these cold weather views
While there in a clearing, the fairy she dances
as sparkles go flitting aloft in the air
Her wings all a flutter in snowflakes of glitter,
the woods come alive on this evening to share
The stars in the heavens all mirror her image,
like glimmering sequins in silver and gold
Orbiting gems on a black velvet skyline,
a wonderful gift for the scene to behold
When chipmunks and rabbits and deer start to gather
all wearing a smile at this beauty they see
This fairy named twinkle who spins as she offers
her late winter dance oh so delicately
The moon shining full sends its beams down around her,
illumines her movements, a soft evening glow
While squirrels with acorns sit up in the treetops,
the best seats they find for this magical show
Then just as it started, so soon it is over,
as footsteps are heard on a path winding through
The fairy named twinkle departs in an instant
as children approach so in hope of a view
~~~~~~

So there now you have it, the poem of Twinkle,

her enchanting dance when the evening is new

But is she for real or just imagination

I can’t really say, I’ll leave that up to you

What is real can never be fully confirmed no matter how many people are in the meting, so I'll just stick to my "it's really real if you believe it" Mantra, I said to my

Yes, the charm and need of imagination. A passport that never expires. Lovely work.

Thank you so much.
Very entertaining Will. A great rhyme scheme that would enthrall any child. Will have to start calling you one of the brothers Grimm or maybe Hans Christian Anderson.

Thanks so much my friend. Hey, Willweb is just fine with me. : )
How wondrous this would be for a daughter, if written and read by her father. I can well imagine her tucked into bed for the night, nestled in the warmth, listening to you read as her eyes get heavier and heavier. I have no doubt that she would have sweet dreams of a fairy named Twinkle. :)
