So Soft is the Sonnet of Willows

Warning: A very long poem

"

This is a very long poem and I will understand if you choose not to spend the time reading it.

It is something I wrote a long time ago and I thought I’d just put it out here in case anyone cared to read it.

Thank you, Will

So Soft is the Sonnet of Willows

Such is the heart of a dreamer

Sought after deep in the mist

Seeking the quest of a thirsting desire

Falling to moments like this

Peering the distant endeavor

Calling the places I’ve known

Sending out visions so endless in wonder

Standing this ledge all alone

Come to my heart always steady

Shape it as how it should be

Teach me the ways of your unending sonnet

Lyrics of comfort to me

Lift me with phrases now spoken

Take from my words on the page

Collections of feelings I wear on my shirt sleeve

Shine me the light of your ways

I am of clay so unmolded

Bend me and shape me to form

Open my heart with the keys of affection

While dying I wish to be born

Caverns so wide as I forage

The depth of their history deep

Shadows that follow the pathways I’m walking

Stairways my soul it does keep

Yours is my desperate reason

Clinging to every fold

Challenges lie in wake of a storm cloud

Northerly winds flowing cold

I shan’t recoil destinations

My mind it is set on the prize

Temptingly so it does fan every flicker

Come I shall soon realize

Time for the moment of danger

Seasons of past now I fear

As I declare every unending longing

Wishing you always so near

Trapped as I traverse the mountain

Chains of my pain garner tight

Reaching for avenues lost in the foliage

Blinded by darkness of night

Soon I will relive the mornings

Joined by a perfect content

Welcoming sunrise with everywhere glowing

Finding the hours we’ve spent

Trusting that no one is watching

Holding your hand on the street

Wrapping my arms ‘round your waist for a while

Kissing your lips soft and sweet

Words now requiring actions

Motions in spite of the sky

Threatening skies overhead where I’m strolling

Waving the past a goodbye

Now as my life is beginning

Fortunate flags sure to wave

Sending a secret embedded in granite

Caution for this I do crave

Asking this long-winded journey

Steps in the grass for to find

Destiny praises my unfettered wishes

Spent as the heart does unwind

Yours is the hand that I reach for

Save me in spite of my tears

Love me as many more wars come invading

Filling the future with fears

Run with me out to the pastures

Keep me in sight at all turns

Paint me with colors so vibrant and truthful

Teach me for I want to learn

I will not be so untrusting

Pressures no longer to hide

Truth is my shield as it shines ever golden

Honesty I shall confide

Come to my heart it is waiting

Here in this darkened abyss

Shining so bright for your eyes now to see me

Reaching for you that I miss

I promise you shall not be sorry

Taking this chance is the key

Found in the corners of thoughts so inspired

True as my covenant be

I shout out my dreams to the mountains

Breathless, I run to the shore

Hopeful, I patiently wait your reaction

Searching for you evermore

Soft is the sonnet of willows

Wavering winds form the streams

Blowing a welcome that’s silently peaceful

Singing the songs of your dreams

Mine is a tiresome journey

Treasures all cast to the bay

Every dollar I’ve owned with my labor

Spent in a fortunate way

For this is my precious possession

A heart that does beat from above

Carefully showing the face of the planning

Showering you with my love

Rain on the valley of passion

Rose petal scent brings the breeze

Take from this night every joy, a reflection

Lingered in fresh memories

This I do pledge, my heart crossing

No longer wishing to die

Rivers of hope that do wash on a shoreline

Sent forth attempting to try

Cherishing love I am finding

Wanting forever to be

Everything that you do see in your blessings

All that’s expected of me

I am but only one person

Doing just what I will do

Being myself in the face of the downpour

Sending my love up to you

There is no mask I am wearing

The smile you see is for real

I cannot be something that cries as nothing

All of my life I reveal

Hoping that you understand this

Praying my words written of

Things that my heart wants to tell you my dearest

Penned now with only my love

Such is the heart of a dreamer

Seeking not silver and gold

My only goal is forever you love me

Just as my dreams have foretold

So soft is the sonnet of willows

Wind through their branches blows free

Whispering dreams evermore shall come flowing

When you are standing with me

Had me fooled there. Thought I might get a Sonnet. But, to use a phrase I got from lightsong, this was Sonnetary. Nothing wrong with long. Long love writes love long. The, 'soft is the Sonnet of willows, wavering winds form the streams' verse is particularly Sonnetary. You have the voice for the form. I wish you would give it a go.

I love this poem will. Drawn in by the title, there are so many lovely references to nature and of course romance and an outpouring of love. Beautifully composed. You have excelled here .

This poem did not feel long to read, at all. It flows as a dream and a simply, beautifully written expression of love. Kudos!

Thank you so very much Divya for always leaving such nice comments for me to find.
It is not about being long or short my friend, it's about the language... I've came to shorter pieces that are confusing to read and hard to finish. but again, here is your language, flowing like the soft sonnet of the willow, like the gentle sparkling brook... hearttaking, sincere... written from the core, and that's why the ink kept flowing and flowing... It can't stop, it pleads to be read, to be heard, to be felt... this is enchanting, splendid... exceptional.

You are welcome my friend, See how many have read and enjoyed your dreamlike poem :>
WOW!! I am speechless. This piece is very interesting. First, the title set the tone to be something soft, filled with hope and love. Second, the entire contents went back and forth in my mind between the romantic love for another and the love and peace one shares in their relationship with The Savior, if that is your belief.

There was much hope and desire for a greater purpose. A promise and surrender. You have truly outdone yourself!!! Definitely worth the read, my friend. BRAVO!

Oh, the romance, longing, desire....all of it comes together deserving of a heavy sign and applause! This is the sort of poem one gives a lover on Valentine's Day! A lyrical offering...flawless rhyme and rhythm. I so enjoyed it. Although it is long, it could have been longer because each stanza was so very lovely. Lydi**

Thank you so very much Lydi. I am humbled by your review of my poem. i appreciate you so much.
This is just one of those poems that demands to be heard. There is no limitation on love and no limitation on how you should express it. You were obviously deeply inspired, and it poured out of you into this poem. This is truly beautiful!

Thank you Linda for taking the time to read this lengthy poem of mine. I am pleased you enjoyed it.
Beautifully attempting; and succeeding at saying "Things that my heart wants to tell you my dearest." Two hands joined with the dream of two hearts forever more.

Never stop dreaming.

Thank you for posting.

Thank you so much Dan. I am glad you liked it.
a major undertaking, impressively successfully, handled
I have enough trouble scrounging out the occasional 14 line sonnets but this would be a life long undertaking
By the time I had completed it, doubtful that I could, my spell check would have been left in shreds
Enjoy your weekend
