Vibrations loosen
the dust on my piano,
releasing tiny particles
into a rectangle sunbeam
dancing about the glass,
as I play compositions
on freeform keys,
fingered imagination
frantically moving
levers in never before
heard melodies
with a locked
sustain pedal
holding each note
to gradually evanesce
into the silence
awaiting your return
as the dust
once again
settles
The poet awaits the return of the beloved. His music waits with him.
I loved the descriptive lines and the pensive piano visuals here. Reading this poem convinced me that we need love to truly express our art. Your versatile pen is appreciated absolutely!

I sat playing my piano and saw the dust particles kind of dancing in a sun beam coming through the window. So...this poem came out. Glad you liked it.

You'll have to school me. Evanesce? I couldn't find it. I love words. And music. I'm a musician as well. Assuming you play notes that gradually evanesce.

to disappear gradually; vanish; fade away.
It was referring to the music fading away. I had to search it out as well when I wrote this. Thanks William.

Well, actually I did, I just never know when it will happen. I share your love of words. I remember once I desperately needed a rhyme and found the word fen. Turned out to mean exactly what I needed. Poetidipity you might say. Do I have to pay any royalties to you if I use evanesce? I have a pocket full of rhymes and still have a few dimes since I haven't been to Coinstar yet.

Nah, it will be my gift to you. Merry Christmas. : )
That old tuneful piano with each rhythmic tap on ebony and ivory, like a pheromone releasing agent. sweet memories of love fill the room, delightful romantic in musing, metaphoric melody!

Wow! Vibrations of the piano stirred up the dust in the eyes of our poet/musician. After few sneezes perhaps, it became clear to him, her what happened in the relationship. Music can clear up some emotions, too.
