Hot Cider Dreams

Hot Cider Dreams

A Poem by willweb
"

Seasons aren't the only thing that changes

"

Fall glides in on the wings

of migrating monarchs,

stained glass visions seeking respite

from a tedious journey

signaling a change in our surroundings

Blushing, the complexion of November

slips from swimsuit informalities

to fawn layered outfits of earth tone lace

Singing of cool breeze melodies

on chrysanthemum dance steps

Sweetly autumn reaches,

filling every part of my heart

collecting at my feet like fallen leaves

Swirling about me on winds of fleece lined affection

tickling fancies and coaxing smiles

Maple syrup hues cling to pumpkin seed desires,

painting pathways in tinted curves,

outlined in kaleidoscope siftings,

champagne ribbons winding

to stroll with the one you adore

Fireside encounters

warm of passion’s enduring flame

a’ glow on shade drawn windows

and pine needle temptations

floating of chilled evening whispers

Wrapped in my arms, hot cider dreams

gather amidst comforting aromas,

weaving scented shadows neath wool blanket motions

and as the season changes, so do I…

I fall more in love with you

Here in Michigan Will. The cider mills keep us in the hot cider for months. I like the days of Fall. The cider mills are doing Halloween and we need the taste of the warm food. The cider mills in Michigan. They make the 8% apple cider. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

You are welcome Will.
I am quite fond of Autumn, too, though a Mediterranean Autumn is a matter of opinion! Sometimes after all that sun It just feels good to be embraced by a cooler climate and I love wrapping myself in warmer, heavier clothes to combat the change. Many lovely lines here, willweb, the surprise coming in your concluding lines where the changing of the seasons also brings out a change in the poet but his affection has only grown deeper for his desired one as time has passed. Something we all hope to have expressed for ourselves. A fine example of descriptive free verse. A most enjoyable read. ❤

This is the kind of poem that just puts me in the fall mood. The descriptions, the warmth and that very beautiful last line that played so well into it all. The imagery, how real it feels. The change of weather, change of heart and feelings. ‘Maple syrup hues cling to pumpkin seed desires.’ Wow, what a beautiful, creative and crafty line. Fall poems can either be so fun and creative or just the same old, and this was so classic and beautiful and fresh at the same time.

Thank you so much Sheila, I appreciate your stopping by.
A great read Will. Had me hooked from the opening couplet, gliding in on the wings of monarchs, the majestic memories of my youth (see fewer and fewer of them up here each year). "swimsuit informalities" is as great a metaphor for summer as any I've read.
the poem gathers mind to all the senses, lines like fleece lined affections, beautiful, establishing a image as clearly as can be of a change in temperature, while tinged by sweetness of of love and fancies. And so it goes, right to the end, when one realizes this is a love poem to one, wrapped in a ode to a season that all too often (myself included) poets wax darkly upon.
great work
