two little unexpected words. that can quite often pack the punch of tnt or a nuclear detonation. as to your author's note...a bad bye i usually use two words for as well. first begins with f the 2nd ends with a double ff :)

It was actually very nice in the way it was presented, but the hurt was still the same. Thanks so much Ken.

yes I find the process of writing my way out of darkness a very cathartic endeavor
"Good"bye really is a misnomer for a painful breakup, isn't it? I do not agree that you never get over them, though. Well, I do, but I think they transform over time and with intent into something first bittersweet rather than painful, poignant, then even that reaches greater equanimity.
It is the why that keeps the pain around, I think. That question lingers.

When good byes come unexpectedly, they make you ask yourself all kinds of questions. Was it something I did, said, etc. Sounds like you got ambushed. Nicely rhymed, by the way.

Those two words. Hardest and saddest words, we will know. My friend, when we close the door on love, friendship. A forever sadness to keep. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

We never expect those two words, do we? A bit like when they say they need more space, which just happens to be the exact height, width and depth as you.
It could always be worse my friend. Just be grateful she didn't say to you "It's yours... I think!" 😊
