This is my promise…

an opened palm, waiting

deeply entrenched lines of pain and constant trying,

sent to you in a display of defined truth

 

~ To hold you in your times of need ~

 

Extended fingers, never crossed or hidden

Grasping beyond

a formidable cloud of doubt,

unfolded on every darkened horizon

 

~ To lift you when you fall ~

 

Rough and leathered flesh

So warm when needed,

strong of grip, but soft

and firm of calming ease

 

~ To caress you when you are weak ~

 

A clenched fist,

white knuckle guardians,

unfaltering in the face of fear,

steel and rivet fastened feelings

 

~ To protect you always ~

 

This is my promise…my hand,

in true unyielding friendship

forever ready…reaching

to you

Will…. This for me, touches on so many of the levels found in the honest heartfelt emotions of someone who is ‘truly’ in love…
To hold... offering strength in understanding, not to ‘fix’ but to support and care for, unwavering in the commitment of ‘just being there’ my favourite line “steel and rivet fastened feelings” is testament to this...
