Just another weed

Just another weed

A Poem by willweb

Flat on my back,

one with the earth,

grass growing between my features

Manicured

to a perfect height,

neatly edged and trimmed

Brilliant green

surrounds me as a warm sun

washes me with light

I marvel

at this beauty cultivated,

longing for only your smile

Only to find I am still

just another weed

in your lawn

Weeds are flowers too Will. I guess in a garden of only grass a weed may be the only contrasting colour source there is - makes it special in my book mate. Very inventive analogy. Theres quite a few ladies here who would gladly have a big bunch of WillWeeds (hmm that sounded not right) - ;p

There is nothing more evocative than fresh mown grass. But a poem about it that becomes evocative is something else. A remarkable effort that does just that.

Thank you so much Ken. That is a high compliment coming from you.
Getting pissed on is one thing, getting run over by a lawn mower is something else altogether. ha Nice poem. I can smell the grass from here. :)

Thanks so much, Tim. I appreciate you stopping by.
What an amazing metaphor! I could almost feel the grass tickling my skin as I read your words. The imagery is rich and vivid. Another weed.....how sad.....but meaning comes through loud and clear. Well written. Lydi**

It doesn't matter, the dog just pissed on me. :) Thank so much BR
But Will, those picked, have a very short shelve-life, before they're tossed, in the refuge bin. As you enjoy the warmth of the noon sun shining, upon you. As for a weed, it's just a flower, by another name, my friend.

Even lawnmowers have known to miss spots on a lawn, Will. And your welcome.

Dandelions aren't considered weeds, not by me. :)
