Faithful flame

 

 

It is within this flame that we stand as one,

though divided by shadows of a past

and sunbeams of futures long waited

 

Savoring the heat of love’s warmth,

but burning in questions feverishly asked

in guilt’s handwriting

 

To douse this fire is as easy

as it is hard, bending light

to follow a truth seared in forever’s glow

 

Extinguished dreams, scattered ashes mount

beyond foothills of want and need

where tear drops may create muddied visions

 

Still I bask in this moment, this instance,

as it is my heart beat’s inferno, raging,

an exact image of yours…

 

And it is these eternal embers,

beacons guiding each cautious footprint,

taken one at a time…I hope we follow tirelessly

 

As this radiance, our radiance shines

illuminating each dark passage we face

blazing a trail to our destiny…faithful flame…you and me

Romance again in verse. And 'guilt’s handwriting' indeed expresses what many feel of broken relationships of the past. Often haunting the future. Well constructed and expresssed.
