Christmas is ruined

Christmas is ruined

A Poem by willweb

There wasn't a kiss
no it just couldn't be
My Christmas is ruined
look under that tree

Ties and pajamas
sweaters and things
But not that one gift
that I asked him to bring

He's just some old guy
with a beard and a hat
About five foot five
all chubby and fat

Who likes eating cookies
while I am asleep
Dreaming of kisses
so sound and so deep

He's not even real
I now know it's true
Because I was good
and that just wouldn't do

So I sit alone
now wondering why
So many are happy
when I only cry

I guess it won't happen
you'll see it so clear
There'll be no more poems
of holiday cheer

I'll just go on being
that guy with a wish
A poet named Will
just wanting a kiss

Sitting here lonely,
counting each tear
Hoping for that kiss
in the coming New Year

So please don't be sorry
but I have to go
I hear there's a sale
on fresh mistletoe

Hahaha - Love it. Most lyrical. Good work. Was just looking for something like it to brighten up my day and that did it. Going to check your other work too just in case there is another gem like this..
Thanks for not wasting that one.

this is so sad, will.
love the ending, "the sale on mistletoe"---

yes, he does eat a lot of cookies doesn't he---
and this poem proves how important a kiss can be...all wrapped up in a smile and a hug to go with it.

Maybe next Christmas Jacob...you never know. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Oh, Will, want to take you, in my arms and give you, your Christmas kiss. If Ana doesn't beat me, to sharing it, with you. If only once, your wish shall be granted to you. Your poem reflects my own sadness, around this time of year. May you be blessed and find your Christmas wish, all wrapped neatly, under the mistletoe.

Happy you stopped by Dale and it's never too late as far as I'm concerned.
Awwww, this is absolutely adorable, Will! The rhyming and rhythm are flawless. While the subject is not childlike, the attitude of the poem is and I liked that. Very cute. Lydi**
