To hold you

 

 

My arms may be long,

just not long enough for my hands

to offer the touch that is needed

 

My voice may carry

swiftly on a north bound wind

only to arrive as a whisper of attempted comfort

 

My thoughts always seem to reach

whatever distance calls to them

and still they do not reach as far as desired

 

My heart is huge,

growing more and more each day,

yet still falls short of the most important goal

 

Therefore all I can offer you is…

 

my love, for it can traverse the many miles,

bridging even the deepest and widest expanse,

to hold you when you cry
