All I can see

Why do I see vibrant colors

in a black and white gallery window

where artists paint in grayscale

with brushes of staggered whiskers

on a Saturday morning sidewalk

with pedestrian foot prints

in fresh cement dancing to the beat

of my heart?

 

Why do I see a beautiful sunset,

pastel ribbons floating across an aqua sky

on a clouded afternoon

of dark umbrella whispers

while thunderstorms wash away the dreams

from every tree branch

reaching for this smile

I now wear?

 

Why do I see a brilliant moon,

surrounded by a satin blanket of glistening stars

while sitting in the paneled waiting room

of my doctor's office, thumbing through

tattered pages of an out of date

Field and Stream magazine

as the other patients stare

wishing they could feel like I do right now?

 

Perhaps because every where I look

all I can see is you...

I can relate to this poem. Every day I smile for he who is not even mine... we are just friends/co-workers, but the way that cares for me is unexplainable. He makes sure that I take my 15 minute brake and stuff. He makes me smile! :D

the subtle sadness grips the reader slowly .. and all within the frame of natural beauty ... i think you have an exquisite contrast laid down in your verses .. the doctor's waiting room is brilliant and crushing for this reader .. and i wish i could be so accomplished to say it in the form of run on sentences .. nice job willweb .. this one opens my mind door a little more than it would be .. nice one!
