Falling

Falling

A Poem by willweb

I watched you fall,

spinning out of control

on a gusty northern wind

beneath clouded skies,

twisting and turning,

eluding my outstretched hands

as I tried to save you

from those who had fallen before

piled in silent thoughts,

returning to where they began,

but I was too slow

You watched me fall,

you didn't try to catch me

Ouch. More than leaves, the hearts that fall into the abyss. The poetic voices that go silent here. Those of us who watch the chaos...
I'm no leaf, no tree, just resolute stone beneath the feet of the masses.

Inertia is a strange thing. It says that unless we interfere the motion will continue indeterminately. But what it has been done here is clever. As Inertial has nothing to do with the organic movement of the season. Yet Willy has managed to make me feel responsible for that damn leaf falling and as if before touchdown I would have thrown myself down to catch it.

Stupid human ignorance always interfering with nature. Yet your skill still makes me feel responsible.

Great emotions displayed here all the best with the contest!

Thankyou

Thanks so much Richard. I guess it could be either.
Sad and bittersweet. I love the soft flow of your words, almost as if a leaf is falling slowly...drifting on an autumn breeze. Beautiful writing Wil

Thank you so very much Julie for your kind words.
The first stanza flows beautifully and reminds me of a leaf floating in the wind...
The second stanza is a rude awakening and is over quickly.
