Sidelines

Sidelines

A Poem by willweb

It is funny how sides work,

no, not green beans and mashed potatoes,

opposite areas of that imaginary line

running straight through a relationship

A division of two people,

often in love, or so they say

Playing the game

on a tilted field,

an uneven surface

Lines in the sand,

drawn deeply with a sharp stick

a crevice separating smiles

showing its teeth

grinning, sort of

It is a matter of principle,

Welcome to the principles office

Small requests fall in that drawer,

big desires " yeah, whatever

Feelings, that file over there,

emotions, piled in the corner

Do the math

Person #1 wants it

Person #2 delivers

Person #2 wants it

Person #1 denies

So which side of the line do we stand here -

or fall?

"hmmmm... I like it... and because its a bit out of the box... allows and directs the reader to think and apply it to their own life.. makes me like it even more.... I bow in your presence...

Cloudy thoughts or not wanting to believe it?

You are welcome!
ha! I'm confused!
No wonder they say love is complicated!
I understand what you're saying though, more or less.
I'm just never sure which side of the line I'm on.
Really liked this one Will.

Interesting, I like the thought process and the format here. One question, is principle's an intentional play on words? As written it could be either, so just a question.
