Butterflies ~ You

Butterflies ~ You

A Poem by willweb

Butterflies ~ You

Butterflies, those magical little creatures,

abstract painted wings in hypnotic designs,

like Dali and Monet collaborated

with gratis paint and unhinged brush strokes

Combining beauty with misunderstood nonsense,

melted watch towers on flowing bridges

above lily pad sentinels with twisted faces

One palette, two brushes, an endless sky

filled with a multitude of rainbows - of colors

on an easel of fragmented vines

and soft flowing orchid leaves,

winding their way into the vaulted plain

of our visionary quests, soothing every need

as they fly from flower to flower

It is at this point I realize that -

if this is the case, then

my body must be a gallery

of the finest work ever known,

for each time my eyes find your smile,

your beauty gazing upon me,

these wonderful winged creatures of nature

invade me, every part of me and I experience the most

wonderful fluttering sensation - you

Seriously, Will? This is so utterly beautiful, I cannot find the right words to describe the essence you have provided! Stunning perfection! The imagery shines here and the emotions sore on those little fluttering wings. Into my faves it goes! xo :)

I agree with everyone down there, this is quite lovely and romantic.. It flows beautifully and the phrasing is exquisite.. not a single word out of place or wasted.. concentrated goodness flowing here.. The imagery is divine and the emotion palpable.. the ending is breathtaking and so touching... I think we have all experienced those fluttering butterflies at one time or another and it can be scary but deliciously so..

one question... "of the finest work every known,".. did you mean "ever"?

the last stanza is hands down my favorite and one of the most romantic things I have read in a while.. I thoroughly enjoyed this.. amazing work..

some of us get butterflies. Some of us get moths...
I'd prefer butterflies after reading this exquisite work especially that middle stanza. That's just beautiful and visual. and that ending. Nice! Very Nice.

Swooning from the romance in every line of this incredible poem, Will! Butterflies are very important to me. As a matter of fact, my book is entitled, "Butterflies of my Soul"! They are a sign of new beginnings. They are always so beautiful and bring us such pleasure...and yet their lifespan is less than two months. We can learn a lot from butterflies. Gorgeous sentiment in this one, Will. Lydi**
