They are just words
Words found anywhere you look,
combined letters, sounds placed side by side
to create new sounds, meanings,
meanings that are merely words

Though these words, right here
are my words
Found floating about in my mind,
arranged by me to project a certain meaning,
to express feelings that hopefully
someone will enjoy

Placed out here for all to see,
to read, to feel, maybe even love
Not big words, not long words
nothing too lavish or extravagant,
just my words

Not kept under lock and key,
no heavy iron chains holding them
or massive bank vault to secure them
wide open and sitting here,
but still they are mine

They are for you to read,
not for you to steal

Words are a writer's tools, and you use yours as a weapon against those who seem to lack the voice for their own.
I don't quite understand the point of trying to claim words as yours that aren't, because though they may express your feelings, you don't need to pretend to have a talent you ain't got.
But I also like what you say about words in general. Words are so... useful. They can be applied in various ways, they are the key to communication.
I like words. But that's enough of them from me for now.

It feels like this is the only thing anyone is writing about on here anymore, but naturally I can understand why, and I enjoyed your take on it very much...it's been interesting to see all the different angles people are taking on it...yours I like because it can be interpreted in other ways as well, which is what a poem is supposed to do...I also like how you narrowed the scope towards the end to reveal the essence of the piece...it added a unique dynamic...great work will.
